About the Role

As Team Leader, you will work closely with the Home Manager and wider management team to support the effective day-to-day running of the home.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Leading and supporting staff during shifts and providing clear direction to the team.
• Promoting the safety, welfare and wellbeing of the children and young people in our care.
• Ensuring high standards of safeguarding and professional practice are maintained at all times.
• Supporting staff to deliver individualised care in accordance with care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support strategies.
• Acting as a positive role model and promoting a child-centred approach throughout the service.
• Supporting and mentoring members of the care team.
• Delegating duties appropriately and ensuring tasks are completed to the required standard.
• Supporting effective communication between shifts, managers, families and other professionals.
• Ensuring records and documentation are accurate, professional and completed appropriately.
• Responding appropriately to incidents and concerns and escalating matters where required.
• Supporting medication procedures in accordance with training, competency and Company policy.
• Contributing to staff supervisions, team meetings and the ongoing development of the service.
• Supporting new employees during their induction and helping to develop a confident and competent staff team.
• Working flexibly as part of the rota, including weekends and other shifts required to meet the needs of the service.

We are looking for someone who:

• Has experience working within a residential care environment, ideally supporting children or young people with additional or complex needs.
• Has strong leadership skills and the confidence to provide direction and support to colleagues.
• Understands the importance of safeguarding and maintaining professional boundaries.
• Can remain calm and make appropriate decisions in challenging situations.
• Communicates effectively with children, colleagues, families and professionals.
• Is reliable, organised and able to take responsibility for the effective running of a shift.
• Has a positive and proactive approach to supporting both children and colleagues.
• Is committed to promoting dignity, choice, independence and positive outcomes for the children and young people we support.

A relevant Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People, Health and Social Care, or equivalent is desirable. Applicants who do not currently hold the required qualification must be willing to undertake appropriate training and qualifications in line with the requirements of the role.
