What we provide and how we deliver it:

Our school and home are set in a tranquil, rural setting which supports our highly therapeutic waking day curriculum that is tailored to the needs and interests of each individual student following a differentiated National Curriculum within school and a primary focus on life and social skills in the home.  We are a registered Forest School and make much use of our extensive grounds and woodland for multisensory learning and leisure opportunities. We pride ourselves in our warm and friendly environment which we maintain to nurture and value every individual through positive interactions and recognition of achievements, whether small or significant.

Most of our students are placed with us on a 52-week, residential placement which offers a children and young people calm and stable routines and consistency designed to reduce anxieties and create positive structures  to support daily life, learning and leisure. We offer flexibility in placements where possible, depending on the individual needs of a child and their family.  This can include 40 and 46 week placements, education day placements and Short Breaks, depending on our current place availability in the school and home.

We have well-qualified and experienced school and home staff teams,  whose focus is on person- centred active support, guiding and helping each individual to achieve their own personal potential and level of independence.  We have a therapy team which includes a Speech and Language therapist, Psychologist and Paediatric Occupational Therapist.

Our on-site facilities include: indoor hydropool, soft play room, sensory rooms, cinema, playground with play equipment, Forest School sites, including: camp fire areas, earth oven, pond, sensory garden, walled kitchen garden and Farm Shop [due to open September 2015].

Adult Care Services:

We currently have one residential home for four adults from 19 – 65 in the local community and are in the process of developing a purpose-built residential home for four young adults from 19 – 25 on the Overley Hall campus [Opening September 2015]; this will provide further specialist residential support for individuals with complex needs who have transitioned into young adulthood.   Referrals for these services come both from within our school and home and externally.

Our approach for adult provision follows our ethos of person-centred active support to maintain a high quality of life that enables adults to reach their highest level of independence through tailored daily programmes of activities, chosen by each individual, designed to support and encourage personal achievement, aspirations and interests. This can include: college courses, work experience, voluntary and paid work, and a diverse range of social and leisure opportunities.
