FOREST SCHOOL

British Forest Schools are adapted from an original concept established in Sweden in the 1950s which has since been developed and disseminated widely throughout other Scandinavian and European countries: http://www.forestschools.com

Overley Hall became a registered Forest School in 2008. We currently have two in-house, Level 3 qualified Forest School Practitioners, accredited by the Open College Network.

Our practitioners have adapted and developed activities and techniques as appropriate to complement the needs and abilities of our pupils.

The Forest School activities are particularly advantageous on a multi-sensory level, with regards to increasing attention span and reducing challenging behaviours.

In addition, Forest School activities form part of the Sustainable Schools Strategy and its attendant considerations of ecological impact.

Local schools and community groups have been encouraged to benefit from the use of our Forest School facilities.
