EDUCATIONAL SETTING

All groups have a structured timetable.

The younger students follow a modified national curriculum to suit their individual needs.  They also have external accreditation within the AQA Unit Award Schemes - a nationally recognised accredited body.

The older students follow the core subject areas of communication, numeracy, ICT and PSHE, but also work towards external accreditation within the ALL programme (Accreditation for Life and Living Skills) - OCR nationally accredited body.

Where considered appropriate, older students attend local colleges both in Telford and Shrewsbury.  All students access the local and wider community and some students access work experience within the local community working within local businesses.  All students are supported by staff from OHS.

Most students access the Forest School with appropriate support.

We have an in-house speech and language therapist who works with students and staff across both school and home, setting targets and regularly reviewing pupils' needs and progress.  The Picture Exchange Communication System [PECS] is used extensively throughout the school, for more information, click: http://www.pecs.org.uk/
